Abstract
This paper consists of three sections. Section one tries to identify and classify different types of greetings. Section two discusses the origin of greetings and tries to prove that greetings such as “wuta” were the earliest forms in the early ancient Chinese. Section three examines the development of greetings at different stages and uses “wuyang” as an example to illustrate the development. The paper ends with a conclusion.
