Abstract
This paper is devoted to discussion of the usage of modal words and terms of modal auxiliary words, identity of modal words and interjections, phonetic variation and form of modal words, the classification and nature of disyllable modal words, as well as the usage of new modal words. This author holds that standardization of modal words plays a very important role in the system of parts of speech in modern Chinese and has important implications for teaching of Chinese as a second language and Chinese information processing.
