The Features of Chinese Passive Sentences — From a Japanese Viewpoint (Article written in Chinese)

SHANCUN Bowen

Abstract

Based on a contrastive study of Chinese and Japanese passive sentences, the paper concludes that in both Chinese and Japanese, passive sentences can be divided into direct passives and indirect passives and that Japanese emphasize subjectivity, which accounts for more indirect passives in Japanese, while Chinese pay more attention to the causer-caused relation in the objective world, so there are more direct passives in Chinese.

Keywords: passive sentence; direct influence; indirect influence; causativity; afffectedness; subjectivity
