Abstract
Entry of color words, their definition and marking in dictionaries are closely related with the system of color words. The article points out that the system of modern Chinese color words consists of three kinds of color words, namely, discriminating, designating, and describing color words, which should be reflected in the dictionaries. Based on an analysis of entries of some color words like “red”, “yellow”, “black”, “white”, their definition and marking in dictionaries, the author make suggestions for improvement.
