A Synchronic Study on “lingzun” („OŽL) and Words of This Kind (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

“Lingzun” („OŽL) is a term of respect, the accepted definition of which is “a form of address to the addressee’s father which cannot be modified by any pronoun.” This article, based on data of modern Chinese, proves that “lingzun” („OŽL) is not only a polite expression, but can also be modified by second and third person pronouns. Words of this kind also share this property.
