Abstract

This paper deals with the question-answer structure in the conversation. The question and answer takes place in turns. A question-answer structure is composed of a question element and its corresponding answer element. The question element can be categorized in different ways, such as true and false questions, explicit and implicit questions, and simple and complex questions. Similarly, the answer element can be classified in various manners such aS direct and indirect answers, adequate and inadequate answers, and zero and hidden answers. The question-answer structure is of two types: simple and complicated. The complicated structure can be subdivided into such types as a question followed by an answer in a natural order, a question embedded in an answer, a question followed by an answer with question, and a question followed by an answer in the form of question.
