Abstract
The paper claims that the essence of directive speech acts is the realization of speaker’s performative purposes. Furthermore, the author analyses the formation of the directive effect from two perspectives: the addressee’s reaction and his attitude when reacting, and suggests what should be modulated to create the effect.
