Abstract
There were some arguments about the disciplinary nature of sociolinguistics before. This paper discusses the problem from the reality and historic development of sociolinguistics. It concludes that the sociolinguistics as an interdisciplinary subject is a better definition because not only it bases on the historic background and the reality of this discipline, but also it will develop sociolinguistics further.
