Abstract
To develop The Standardized Chinese Character List is a significant project of the language and characters application study “tenth five-year” planning of the Chinese Language and Characters Committee. Around making the list, this paper discussed four problems: (1) why to make The Standardized Chinese Character List; (2) how to realize and grasp the meaning of “normalized Chinese characters”; (3) the basic idea and progress of making the Standardized Chinese Character List; (4) relevant works in connection with making the list.
