Comprehending the Chinese Sentences by the Foreign Students Whose Native Languages Are Different in Typology (Article written in Chinese)

WANG Yongde

Abstract

Adopting reaction time (RT) and percentage of correct choice as dependent variables, this research explored the foreign students (whose native languages are English, Japanese and Korean) comprehending several Chinese sentences constructions. It was found that the students behaved closely with their native languages in typology. RT and percentage of correct choice reflected the difficulty of different aspects in language processing, but RT was sensitive than percentage of correct choice as a whole. The result provided a basis for the teaching of the Chinese language to the foreign students at the elementary level according to their native languages in typology.

Keywords: native language in typology; Chinese sentences; comprehend
