Abstract
The article introduces how the variant forms are dealt with during the development of The Table of Normalized Chinese Characters, and addresses oneself to how the variant forms of a Chinese character is defined, and how the variant forms from The List of the First Series of Standardized Variant Forms are dealt with in The List of Standardized Chinese Characters.
