Abstract
This paper gives a brief review of topics of general interest in the nearly twenty years in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. It provides the following revelations to us: (1) to follow continually with the interest of the development of practice and theory in the field of teaching a language as foreign/second language at home and abroad; (2) to pay close attention to the problems in our teaching and research practice; (3) to improve our structures of knowledge and ability; and (4) to pay more attention to transform the research achievements into teaching practice.
