Abstract
Language test is necessary for the recruitment of the freshmen in broadcasting departments, for the employing new announcers and hosts for radio and TV programs, as well as for the announcers and hosts contests. But nowadays the competence test is on poor quality in terms of lack of considering language standard, low proportion for language evaluation and simple evaluation criterions. Language evaluation should consist of language and paralanguage systems, including sound, voice, image, temperament, understanding, expression, etc. Different conditions have different requests: potential ability is emphasized for student recruitment tests, utility is emphasized for employment and comparability for contests. When suitable evaluation items and scores are assigned can a scientific evaluation system be established.
