Abstract
The new word “mengliao” (²r®Æ)is a newly-coming word which is widely used in media in recent yeas. It is, primarily, one of the words of cooking and later on, step by step, become a news term through a set of meaning changes. The investigation of the sample illustrates that the research on new words can be done objectively by applying some effective methods.
