Abstract
Based on the cultural background, language educational system and classroom environment, the article analyses the main factors of context of language leaching and the ways in which they interact. It is attempted to search the influence of context and culture on the compilation and use of textbooks. Taking three sets of textbooks widely used in the UK and the US as example, the author explores how the form and content of targeted textbooks should be adapted to suit the particular context of language teaching.
