Abstract
There appears a word cluster of Feidian (非典) with the spread of Atypical Pneumonia. Each word of the cluster has its own traits and register as well as they share some same characteristics. Feidian, “Atypical Pneumonia”, and “SARS” form a triangle among the cluster, and people of different walks have different opinions over the naming of the disease. Based on a three-year observation and social research on the word cluster, the author explores the establishment of new words.
