Abstract
The understanding of covert intentions of discourse which lacks specific discussions in pragmatics is a difficult and focal point of discourse understanding. Based on relevance theory, this paper summarizes several operative rules for covert intentions understanding through speech practice investigation; it especially stresses the positive effects of discourse makers recognition and a search for contextual key factors et cetera on covert intentions understanding.
