Abstract
In order to understand the present language situation in China and timely keep informed on the annual first hand materials of usages of the characters, and to serve as reference for the government to adjust or make language policies and to formulate or revise the language standard, the Center of the National Language Tracing and Research uses the dynamic, circulative corpus to make a survey of the situation of the use of Chinese characters and phrases in the newspapers, radio and television, and Web in 2005. According to the survey result, a preliminary analysis is made. This paper introduces the corpora, the methods and the operating principles used in the investigation, and also introduces the research result and its preliminary analysis, so that people could use the research language data better.
