Abstract
The Annual Report of the Language Situation in China 2005 (Volume l) is the first report of analysis of language situation in China in 2005. This article, from both aspects of a social demand and a similar study on the issues at home and abroad, makes an introduction to the topic and background of the report, sets forth the report structure and its content, and describes the essential features of the report and its successfully operational experiences. Moreover, it gives an analysis of current problems and puts forward amendments and addenda to the report.
