Abstract
This paper analyzes the distribution and structure of the set expressions formed by nominal sentence. It points out that this kind of set expression has the following features: structurally, coordinative units and duplicated forms often occur in this kind of set expression; literally, figures are frequently used; on the whole the meaning of the set expression often stays away from the literal meaning; the words often carry rhetorical meaning and abstract meaning. In many cases, no verb as the predicate can be added to the nominal structure, which forms a strong reason for holding the viewpoint that the nominal sentence should be regarded as an independent sentence pattern rather than a verb-omitted one.
