The Conversational Strategies of the Salespersons’ Discourse in On-site Promotions (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

This thesis, based on field work data, studies the dialogue strategies of sales talks in enfranchised stores. The results show that the sales persons produce more active dialogue acts in sales talks with their customers. Such is usually demonstrated by taking the initiative to break the silence, committing responding turns to new topic starting turns, answering questions in complete sentence structures, and providing apparently more information than anticipated in sales talks.
