YANG Chengqing & ZHANG Jinjun

Abstract

The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) is one of the important ways of prompting Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL), which influences positively on the task “To popularize Chinese around the world, to enable a better understanding of China by the world”. However, in recent years, HSK showed inadaptability in its administration and implementation. HSK therefore has to be reformed so as to maintain the authority of Chinese test developed by China, to extend the impact of HSK, and to promote TCSL will. This paper provides some suggestions for reform to be consulted by the people concerned in terms of HSK’s nature, standard-setting, content and format, development procedures and testing affairs.
