Abstract
The main thrust of this paper is to propose Textbook Language as an independent research area in terms of its concept, nature, characteristics and significance for research. Such issues like potential research topics, main research literature, and the nature of Textbook Language are discussed. Following the development and change of objectives of language teaching and education, Textbook Language becomes an increasingly important topic. Its research involves various fields.
