Abstract
In Chinese information processing, due to its stable structure, integrate meaning and statistical significance, phrase is seen as a better feature of text representation than word or character. The theoretical justifications of phrase advantage are summarized from perspectives like linguistics, cognitive psychology and computational linguistics, and are finally verified by text categorization.
