Word-formation and Syntax: Two Key Points of CSL Learner’s Dictionaries (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

The “lowest function” and “highest function” of a dictionary should be considered by CSL learner’s dictionary compilers. As a result of users of medium sized CSL learner’s dictionary are the foreign learners who do not have perfect and well-developed Chinese mental lexicon, we should stress on how to handle Chinese word-formation and syntax during the compilation of CSL learner’s dictionaries. These are two key points of CSL learner’s dictionaries. This paper analyzes some practical treatment to dealing with word-formation and syntax of some CSL learner’s dictionaries that have been published recently, and according to the analyses, we pose some problems which should be solved in the future compilation of CSL learner’s dictionaries.
