Abstract

The publication of <Modern Chinese Dictionary> (<Xiandai Hanyu Cidian>, revised version) was followed with common interest of all social opinions, and it also was taken extensive attention by academic circles. Our editorial department and Linguistics Institute of CASS jointly convened an academic forum. The scholars attending to this forum not only gave the all-round assessment to this dictionary, but also expressed their distinctive opinions. They enoughly affirmed the achievement of this dictionary, and in same times, they also pointed out its shortcomings.
