Abstract
The author has conducted an experiment on "Cassette Tape Marking" on 40 Form 3 students in a medium ability secondary school. Questionnaires were used to tap students' feedback and comments on using "Cassette Tape Marking" in Chinese writing i nstruction. Over 70% of the students thought that: (1) In using "Cassettte Tape Mrking", teachers can more specifically and in more detail point out the good points as well as the mistakes in students' writing; (2) "Cassette Tape Marking" can stimulate st udents' thinking process, allowing them to analyse in more detail their own mistakes so as to make corrections; (3) "Cassette Tape Marking" can increase students' interest in writing. Most teachers can give students a greater amount of encouragement with tapes; (4) they feel closer to their teachers when listening to the cassette tapes. As such, "Cassette Tape Marking" can reduce the distance between teachers and students.
