Origins and Development of Early Childhood Educator Training in Hong Kong

Sylvia OPPER

Abstract

The present article examines the training of the two types of persons who work in early education and care settings in Hong Kong, kindergarten teachers and child care workers in day nurseries. It also discusses some of the reasons for the existing differences between training in the two sectors such as legislation, origins and development of services, and the actual number of early childhood educators involved.
