本課程以研究為主,輔以修課。學員會在導師指導下,就個人的學術興趣進行研究。過程之中,導師會啟發和引導學員,並按國際標準評估成績。哲學博士課程旨在讓學員能專精於教育研究的某個領域。透過研討會、修課、綜合考試和論文研究及撰寫,有助學員在文獻回顧、概念形成、研究設計和理論建構等方面的研習。

修讀辦法
本課程以研究為主,學員通常在論文導師及其他教師的指導下修讀為其個別設計的課程,參加研討班及進行研究。學員在綜合考試取得及格成績後,可獲博士候選人資格。學員其後在論文委員會指導下,於規定時限內呈交論文計劃書、完成論文,並參加有關論文之口試,取得及格成績,方可畢業。
