Programme Objectives

Upon completion of the Programme, students will:

• master the major theories of child development and their application;
• understand the contextual factors, including cultural, social, economic and political ones, that affect the development of early childhood education in Hong Kong and worldwide;
• apply curriculum planning knowledge and skills for designing and evaluating developmentally appropriate programmes (DAP) or other school-based curricula in early childhood education;
• address and deal with various special needs of children;
• apply relevant knowledge and skills in promoting home-school collaboration and parental involvement in early childhood education;
• take on educational and professional responsibilities in local early childhood settings;
• be capable of continuous professional reflection and growth.
