The Study of the Adult Education Activities in Taiwan Area: Analysis and Evaluation

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyze the adult education activites in Taiwan area and evaluate the effects. The author collected relative documents and research papers from various resourses, and developed the evaluation criteria. The following conculsions were made:
  1. The developmental trends of adult education in Taiwan area were consistent with that in highly developed counties.
  2. The implementing of adult education plans in official organizations were basically appropriate, but defects were found in the establishing of the laws, the setting up of the organization systems, and the administrating of the evaluations.
  3. The ratio of illiteracy was still high.
  4. The ratio of people's participation in adult education activities was still low.
  5. The adult education activities offered by government were still limited, compared to the needs of people.
  6. The budget of adult education was insufficient.

The author proposed suggestions to the implementation of adult education in Taiwan at the final.
