Psychological Mechanism Resulting from Sense of Honor and Disgrace and Its Educational Significance (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

In the view of psychology, reasonable and suitable statements and actions result in the sense of honor, while mistakes in one’s statements and actions result in the sense of disgrace. Theoretically, getting a clear understanding on the psychological mechanisms resulting from sense of honor or sense of disgrace can be more helpful to effectively develop the honor and disgrace outlook education. The key to such education in the new age is to take proper measures to cultivate people’s conscience and develop the outlook of honor and disgrace education according to the developmental rules of the outlook of honor and shame in different groups with different levels of conscience. Meanwhile, we should pay attention to relating with the Chinese existing cultural tradition of having a sense of shame and construct the cultural at mosphere to cultivate the outlook of honer and disgrace.
