Review of “Coleman Report” (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

“Coleman report” resulted from the emergence of ideological trend of educational equity and educational democracy after World War II and the requirement of investigation on the situation of educational oppotunity eqality by American Civil Rights Act. Scientific analysis was done in “Coleman report” on the status quo and influential factors of the American educational oppotunity equality, showing that the difference between the schools had different influence on the students of different races. The reasons that caused the lower level of the black children were mainly not the material condition of the schools but the social factors inside the schools. “Coleman report” deeply influenced the theoretical practice and policy practice of educational oppotunity equality, which is also of important reference to realize the balanced development in China.
