A Reflection on Educational Technology Research in China (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

In spite of notable achievements, there are still some problems in the research of educational technology. Instructional media theory is still considered central to educational technology. This is a serious problem under which theoretical research depends too much on the psychology of learning. Furthermore, this theory and the means of educational technology cannot solve the practical instructional problems as efficiently as expected. These problems are due to the misunderstanding of the real meaning of educational technology. Educational technology should be considered more wide-ranging, including technique, methods and skills that can be used to resolve instructional problems. To improve the situation, we must not only have profound and comprehensive understanding of instructional problems, but also be familiar with changing technology. This is an important issue that all researchers in educational technology should consider.
