Language and Gesture Lab of the Faculty Receives Hong Kong ICT Awards 2023 - Certificate of Merit

Led by Prof. Catherine So Wing-chee, the Language and Gesture Lab of the Faculty has been awarded the Smart Living (Smart Healthcase) Award  - Certificate of Merit of the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2023 for the innovative AutiBot Pro system. Jointly-developed with NEC Hong Kong Limited, the system is a Robot-based Eye Gaze and Motion Detection System for Autism Assessment and Early Screening.

By empowering robotics and artificial intelligence, AutiBot Pro automates interaction with children while simultaneously detects their eye contact and body movements to identify potential signs of autism. This advanced technology allows for quick screenings within 5 to 10 minutes and can also be used as an ongoing assessment tool to track a child's learning progress. AutiBot Pro revolutionises autism diagnosis and provides valuable support for early intervention and treatment.

The Hong Kong ICT Awards 2023 is steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, and organised by Hong Kong ICT industry associations and professional bodies. The Awards recognise and promote outstanding information and communications technology inventions and applications.
