Prof. Lau Kit Ling Dinky, Department of Curriculum and Instruction

Self Photos / Files - Dinky LauAs a researcher in Chinese language education, my goal is to help teachers enjoy teaching Chinese and students enjoy learning it. I firmly believe that research and teaching are mutually reinforcing. I am constantly exploring effective pedagogies for Chinese language education through my research and incorporate these pedagogies into my teaching, Seeing the students get inspired and implement these methods in their own classrooms, benefiting their students, is my greatest motivation for teaching.

Prof. Ou Dongshu, Department of Educational Administration and Policy

Self Photos / Files - Dongshu OuTo me, the great reward of teaching is knowing that students are discovering new things and developing personally through the learning process. Beyond teaching fundamental course content, my goal as a teacher is to guide my students, who are current or future educators, to foster their critical-thinking and problem-solving skills and facilitate the acquisition of lifelong learning skills. Through this process I hope that they become better educators and are able to make more significant contributions to society.

Prof. So Wing Chee Catherine, Department of Educational Psychology

Self Photos / Files - Catherine SoAs an educator, I aspire to empower our future educators to make a difference to the lives of students with special education needs. I want them not only to acquire education theories and models but also to customize these theories / models and cater the diverse learning needs of students. Students should go through a process of learning that consists of three steps: first, students acquire knowledge; then they contemplate it thoroughly; finally, they internalize and alter it based on the students’ learning abilities and special needs. Based on this approach, I have three teaching strategies. These can be represented by the three I’s – Implant, Integrate, and Inspire, which have been thoroughly implemented in my teaching at CUHK.

Through my various supervisory and advisory roles with students, it is central to my teaching approach that I can assist to advance their inter- and multi-disciplinary knowledge and generate impactful translational research and knowledge transfer, leading to meaningful and tangible benefits for human health and well-being.

Mr. Cheung Yuk Kit, Physical Education Unit

Self Photos / Files - Cheung Yuk KitIn "The Courage to Be Discussed・A Two-Part Series", it was mentioned, "One's life can be chosen by oneself". This is an educational philosophy that I deeply believe in. I like to teach students that they can decide their own lives. And teachers can provide them with the materials needed to make decisions, such as knowledge or experience. Respecting students' decisions, letting them know that teachers can provide assistance at any time, maintaining a distance, yet being able to help them is the attitude that educators should have. Even if the students fail in the end, they will have learned that "One's life can be chosen by oneself".
