New Horizons In Education

John RAVEN

Abstract

Developments in microcomputers have made it possible to implement assessment procedures based on psychometric principles which were not operationalisable with paper and pencil technology. These will usher in a radical transformation of classrooms as teachers discover that they are able to use them to implement individualised, competency-oriented, programmes of development geared to a wide range of pupils' interests and talents and give pupils credit for the idiosyncratic qualities and unique patterns of specialist knowledge which they develop in the process.
