    Au Yeung Kit Fong Education Award
    Award: HK$3,000
    • For a postgraduate student of the Faculty of Education.
    • Based on academic merit.
    • Preference will be given to a full-time postgraduate student.
    Grand Way Scholarships at Faculty of Education
    Award: HK$10,000
    • For full-time local or non-local postgraduate research students or local students from the Master of Arts in English Language Teaching Program
    • Based on academic excellence, caliber and commitment in the field of education.
    ICS Mok Hing Cheong Postgraduate Scholarship
    Award: HK$60,000
    • For full-time doctoral students in Chinese Literature, History, Geography or a related subject.
    • Students may reasonably be expected to complete their theses by the end of the academic year 2017/18.
    • Students are required to provide a statement on the details of research which should be related to Chinese culture in general, and on the progress of the thesis detailing a research plan that will lead to completion of the thesis by the end of the academic year 2017/18.
    • Scholarship recipients are expected to participate in academic activities of the Institute of Chinese Studies such as talks and seminars, and are required to submit a copy of the thesis after its completion to the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid for onward transmission to the donor for record.
    Lee Hysan Foundation Postgraduate Studentships for Mainland China Students
    Award: HK$4,400
    • For a full-time postgraduate student from the Mainland who will return to the Mainland after graduation.
    • Based on academic merit.
    • Higher priority will be given to those candidates who have registered with the Graduate School.
    • Cannot be held concurrently with other scholarships or financial support from the University, excluding postgraduate studentship.
    Li Po Chun Charitable Trust Fund Postgraduate Scholarships
    Award: HK$10,500
    • For full-time postgraduate students in the Master's or Doctoral Programmes.
    • Students must be permanent residents of Hong Kong taking UGC-funded programmes.
    • Based on academic merit and good conduct.
    Madam Yeung Choi Lau Memorial Scholarship
    Award: HK$1,400
    • For a full-time postgraduate student of the Faculty of Education.
    • Based on academic merit.
    Mingxi Youth Award Scheme
    Award: HK$5,000

    Mr. Lam On Hang Memorial Scholarship
    Award: HK$4,300
    • For a Ph.D. candidate in Chinese Studies.
    • Based on academic merit.
    • Consideration will also be given to personality and leadership potential.
    Talent Development Scholarship
    Award: HK$10,000
    • For full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students studying in UGC-funded programmes.
    • Year 1 undergraduate students must have good academic results during secondary education and in public examination; whereas Year 2 or above students must have attained a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above up to the summer session of previous academic year.  Year 1 postgraduate students must have outstanding academic achievements at entrance.
    • Students should be able to demonstrate achievements in any of the following areas in recent three years (i.e. 1 January 2014 or after).  If any student has outstanding achievements on several areas, he/she should be recommended for the Scholarship based only on the most deserving area as required by the Education Bureau (EDB).
      • sports and games
      • music and performing arts
      • culture, arts and design
      • innovation, science and technology
    • Students should have received awards in national or regional competitions / performances; or represented institution or relevant association in such competitions / performances and have good recommendation / assessment by the institution or relevant organization on the capability or talent; OR have received awards (except commendable award in recognition of participation) in local / inter-school / inter-institution competitions.
    • Students who ONLY participate in any of the following activities should NOT be awarded Talent Development Scholarship (TDS):
      • being a team member / committee member of school/university team / club / society
      • intra-school / intra-institution activities (CUHK intercollegiate activities are also not eligible.)
      • work-related activities (e.g. internship / helpers or workers of an event, etc.)
      • examinations on musical instruments
      • language proficiency test (e.g. IELTS, TOEFL, etc.)

     

    Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programmes  
    Alumni of Faculty of Education Scholarship  
    Award: HK$2,500
    • For a full-time student in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme.
    • Based on academic merit and financial need.

    Award: HK$3,500
    • For outstanding full-time students of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education programme.
    • Recipients will be required to be involved in educational research work as research assistants.
    Leung Yuen Hung Memorial Educational Research Assistantship  
    Award: HK$8,000
    • For an outstanding student of the full-time Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme specializing in English, who have outstanding performance in the course of 'Subject Curriculum and Teaching (Major: English)' in the first term.
    • The recipient will be required to be involved in educational research work as research assistant.

    Talent Development Scholarship  
    Award: HK$10,000
    • For full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students studying in UGC-funded programmes.

    Award: HK$8,000
    • For full-time students studying Postgraduate Diploma in Education.

    Yuk Kwan Education Scholarship  
    Award: HK$1,000
    • For a full-time student in the Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme.
    • Based on academic merit.

     

    Bachelor of Education Programmes  
    Au Bak Ling Charity Trust Scholarship  
    Award: HK$10,000
    • For full-time undergraduate students of the Faculty of Education taking a programme of study relevant to teaching.
    • Students must have outstanding academic achievements at entrance if they are Year 1 students, or have attained a Year GPA of 3.0 or above in the previous academic year if they are Year 2 or above students.
    • Students must have an intention to enter the teaching profession upon graduation.
    CUHK Convocation Outstanding Services and Creativity Student Awards  
    Award: HK$10,000
    • be full-time Year 2 or above undergraduate students of any disciplines
    • have works with outstanding creativity in the fields of Humanities or Natural Science
    • be able to demonstrate that the creativity of his/her works is purposeful and that it is completely original
    • be able to demonstrate that the creativity of his/her works is innovative and has outstanding achievement
    • submit a personal statement in English of not more than 500 words which elaborates the achievement and creativity
    Dr. Woo Hon Fai Memorial Scholarship  
    Award: HK$1,400
    • For a full-time freshman admitted to an undergraduate programme with the qualification of associate degree.
    • Based on outstanding academic achievements at entrance.
    • The student must demonstrate financial need.
    Faculty of Education Admission Scholarships  
    Award: HK$30,000
    • Full-time local undergraduate students studying Year 1; and
    • Total score of 30 or above based on the best 5 subjects in HKDSE. (A total score of 30 is equivalent to an average of 5* in all the best 5 subjects.)
    Grand Way Scholarships at Faculty of Education  
    Award: HK$10,000
    • For Full-time local Year one undergraduate students
    • Based on academic achievements in public examinations for admission to CUHK.
    HSBC Hong Kong Scholarship  
    Award: HK$50,000
    • For full-time undergraduate students.
    • Students must be Hong Kong permanent residents.
    • For Year 1 students, they must attain a minimum Term GPA of 3.7 or above / top 3% of class in the first term of the academic year 2017/18.
    • For Year 2 or above students, they must attain a minimum Year GPA of 3.7 or above / top 3% of class in the academic year 2017/18.
    • Students must be in disciplines under architecture, business and economics, communication, computer science, education, engineering, health care, hotel and tourism, law, medicine, science (applied and basic), social sciences, arts subjects (linguistics and languages, translation, history, geography, fine arts and applied arts) and environment.
    Hang Seng Bank Community Service Scholarships  
    Award: HK$20,000
    • For local full-time undergraduate students of Year 2 or above.
    • Students must be permanent residents of Hong Kong.
    • Students must have attained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3.
    • Students must have contributed a minimum of 100 hours of recognized voluntary services to the community in the previous academic year, i.e. for the period from 1 August 2016 to 31 July 2017.  All training hours of voluntary services are NOT counted.
    • The scholarship shall be tenable for one year only.
    • The total amount of the scholarships received by the nominees, including this scholarship, shall not exceed the annual tuition fee for the academic year of award.  The recipients are allowed to receive the Government grants or loans.
    Hong Kong Jockey Club Scholarships  
    Award: to cover tuition fee, academic expenses and living costs
      Local Students:
    • For local full-time first-year or second-year students who are studying their first undergraduate degree in 2017/18 and meet all the following criteria:
    • Students must be permanent Hong Kong residents; and
    • For first-year applicants, they must demonstrate academic excellence in Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) or another recognised entry qualification.  If selected, the scholarship will be offered on the condition that the student will achieve a GPA of 3.50 or is ranked among top 10% in class in the first term.  For second-year applicants, they must have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or is ranked among top 10% in class at the time of application; and
    • Students must be proficient in Chinese (including Putonghua) and English.
      Mainland students:
    • For full-time first-year or second-year Mainland students who are studying their first undergraduate degree programme in 2017/18 and meet all the following criteria:
    • Students must be citizens of the People’s Republic of China; and
    • For first-year applicants, they must demonstrate academic excellence in Joint Entrance Examination (Gaokao) or another recognised entry qualification.  If selected, the scholarship will be offered on the condition that the student will achieve a GPA of 3.50 or is ranked among top 10% in class in the first term.  For second-year applicants, they must have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or is ranked among top 10% in class at the time of application; and
    •   Students must be proficient in Chinese (including Putonghua) and English.
    Hong Kong Mediation and Arbitration Centre Charity Fund Scholarship  
    Award: HK$3,000
    • For a full-time Year 2 or above undergraduate student.
    • The student must have attained a Year GPA of 3.3 or above in the previous academic year.
    Innovation and Technology Scholarship Award Scheme  
    Award: up to HK$150,000
    The Scheme is open to full-time, non-final-year undergraduates who meet the following criteria
    • Hong Kong Permanent Residents with the right of abode in Hong Kong.
    • Undertaking a science-related degree funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC). In general they cover (i) Sciences; (ii) Engineering and Technology; and (iii) Medicine, Dentistry and Health.
    • Preferably cumulative GPA of 3.3 (or equivalent) or above up to Term 1 of 2017/18.
    • A minimum total TOEFL (Internet-based test) score of 90 with scores for individual sections not lower than 21 on reading, 22 on listening, 21 on speaking, and 17 on writing; or a minimum IELTS (Academic test) overall band score of 6.5, with no component below 6.0. These are irrespective of overseas universities’ requirements. All tests must have been taken on or after 11 February 2016.
    • Have passion in innovation and technology, and intention of pursuing this as a career.
    • Well-rounded, have participated in extra-curricular and/or community service activities.
    • Able to demonstrate commitment to Hong Kong.
    • Possesses good communication skills.
    • Have not previously received an award under this Scheme.
    Kai Chong Tong Scholarships  
    Award: HK$15,000
    • For local full-time second-year undergraduate students.
    • Students must be Hong Kong permanent residents.
    • Based on first-year academic merit and financial situation of the nominees' family.
    • Where assessment results being equal, priority will be given to students whose place of origin is Panyu.
    • Awardees may hold other awards concurrently provided that the total amount received does not exceed the University's maximum amount of scholarship a student is allowed to receive in a particular academic year (i.e. annual tuition fee plus a study and living allowance of HK$80,000).
    Kong E Suen Memorial Scholarships  
      First Year Students
    • Award: HK$2,300
    • For full-time first-year undergraduate students.
    • Based on financial need and entrance academic results.
      (Where assessment results being equal, priority will be given to students from Wah Yan College (Kowloon).)
      Final Year Students
    • Award: HK$2,300
    • For full-time final-year undergraduate students.
    • The scholarship is preferably allocated to the Department to which no specific scholarship has been assigned.
    • Based on academic results of the previous year and financial need.
      (Where assessment results being equal, priority will be given to students from Wah Yan College (Kowloon).)
    Leung Chuk Scholarship  
    Award: HK$21,050
    • For a full-time new undergraduate student admitted to the University in the year of award with the qualification of associate degree or higher diploma.
    • Based on outstanding academic achievements at entrance.
    Li Po Chun Charitable Trust Fund Undergraduate Scholarships  
    Award: HK$7,000
    • For full-time first-year undergraduate students.
    • Students must be permanent residents of Hong Kong taking UGC-funded programmes.
    • Based on entrance academic results and good conduct.
    Mingxi Youth Award Scheme

    Mrs. Chan Ng Wing Chee Scholarships  
    Award: HK$5,800
    • For four local or non-local full-time undergraduate students of the Faculty of Education.
    • For Year 1 students, they must have outstanding academic achievements at entrance; or for Year 2 or above students, they must have attained a Year GPA of 3.0 or above in the previous academic year.
    • Financial need will also be considered.
    Ms. Yeung Choi Lau Memorial Scholarship  
    Award: HK$1,000
    • For a full-time undergraduate student of the Faculty of Education.
    • Based on academic merit.
    Professor Joseph J. Y. Sung Scholarships  
    Award: HK$12,500
    • For local or non-local full-time undergraduate students.
    • For Year 1 students, they must have outstanding academic achievements at entrance; or for Year 2 or above students, they must have attained a Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above up to the previous academic year.
    • Students should have financial need, e.g. receiving Government grant and/or loan, University bursaries and/or loan in the current and/or previous academic year.
    • Priority will be given to those students with qualities for / interest in Chinese culture and arts, e.g. Chinese opera, Chinese music and Chinese dance, etc.
    Talent Development Scholarship

    Outstanding Teaching Practice Awards at Faculty of Education  
    Award: HK$2,000
    • For full-time undergraduate students from the above designated bachelor’s programmes of the Faculty of Education.
    • Based on outstanding performance in the Teaching Practice Courses offered by respective programmes.
    • Students should be nominated by their respective programmes.
    Sir Edward Youde Memorial Scholarships for Undergraduate and Diploma Students  
    Award: HK$40,000
    • have the right of abode or the right to land in Hong Kong or are permitted to stay in Hong Kong without restriction;
    • have resided in Hong Kong for at least three years as at 1 September 2017;
    • be registered full-time undergaudate students undertaking UGC-funded courses in 2017/18; and
    • not be engaged in full-time employment.
    To Yuet Lai Scholarships  
    Award: HK$13,000
    • For full-time undergraduate students.
    • Based on outstanding academic merit in the previous year (GPA 3.0 / Grade B or above).
    • Candidates should have represented CUHK and received INTERNATIONAL PRIZES** in areas of academic-related activities, sports or other talents.

    The Scholarships Sub-Committee, under the Student Affairs Committee of the Faculty of Education, is responsible for the selection process, while the nominations are to be confirmed by the Senate Committee on University Scholarships. The recommendations for most of the scholarships are generally made at the start of the academic year. Please contact relevant programme offices for inquiries.
