Network Connection Setup in Classroom

Starting from September 1998, ITSC has been working with several departments to provide more Internet access points on Campus. These network outlets can be found in lecture theatres, classrooms, libraries and public areas. ClassNet employs Virtual Private Network (VPN) technology which uses encryption and some security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access the network. The ClassNet connection is similar to the ResNet connection in which from each building to the Campus Network Backbone is a 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet link via optical fibre which provides high-performance communications for all ClassNet users.

To connect your notebook to the classroom network, you have to connect to Classnet VPN. (see the classroom facility here)

To connect Classnet VPN, you have two ways as shown below.

Option 1. Double-click Classnet VPN or Classnet IPSec VPN shortcut on desktop

Enter the CWEN username and password in the prompt dialog. For details of Classnet, please click here.

Option 2. Network Connection Shortcut in Start Menu

Alternatively, access the VPN option by the way as shown below.

Enter the CWEN username and password in the prompt dialog. For details of Classnet, please click here.
