This course provides an introduction to the teaching of primary school mathematics. The local primary school mathematics curriculum and teaching methods constitute the core of this study. Major topics of discussion include the following: (1) the aims and objectives of primary school mathematics education, (2) instructional theories applied to mathematics teaching, (3) models of teaching mathematics, (4) preparation of mathematics lessons and classroom techniques, (5) the use of games, teaching aids and activities, (6) recreational mathematics in the amthematics curriculum, (7) diagnosis of learning difficulties, and (8) evaluation and assessment of learning outcomes.
