In order to access to Internet or your Email when you are away from campus, you can connect to the campus network through telephone lines. For our faculty members (student/staff), 2 modem pools can be used.

1. Faculty Modem Pool (Faculty members only)
2. ITSC Modem Pool

For those end user who does not have broad band services available at home, the Faculty has setup a modem pool so that you can make connection to the Internet. The new modem pool (Cisco AS5300) has 46 dial-up lines at the phone number 2933 5600. Only faculty members can access to the modem pool. How To Access

In order to connect to the campus network, you need to create a dial-up connection in your computer. Here comes the procedure.

 

Authenication

STAFF -

For STAFF, the login ID and password is same as the username and password of ITSC email account.

STUDENT -

For STUDENTS, the login ID and password are controlled by Faculty Computer Account Management System.
Only login ID has the same ID with ITSC computing account, while the password is initially generated by the system.

Your login account should look like

User ID: s001234
Password: FGHIJ

Regulations

ALL users are responsible for keeping their passwords secret at ANY time. The Faculty reserve the right to suspend/stop the service to users if the user:

1. does not behave in an ethical, legal manner;
2. shares account with others and causes detriments to other users.

Modem Specifications

56K modems with support of V.90 and K56flex.
Each user can connect with maximum 2 hours per connection.

* The 8 lines modem pool 2603 7528 is obsoleted at 2008.

(2) ITSC Modem Pool
