Professor Shiu received a PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of California, San Diego, in 1994. From 1994 to1996, he was a post-doctoral research fellow at the Mental Health Research Institute, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He joined the department in 1996.

Attention and perception, learning and memory, language and cognition, problem solving, and inhibitory control of behavior.
