In late October 2007, CEELT completed a research project titled A study on the ESL teachers’ experiences and needs of professional development in Hong Kong. This project was sponsored by the Direct Grant operated by Faculty of Education, the Chinese University of Hong Kong .
The objectives of this project are to study:
(a) The ESL teachers’ frequency of engagement in different
professional development activities in the last 12 months from the
time of the survey.
(b) The usefulness of various modes of professional development in
enhancing their teaching as perceived by the ESL teachers.
(c) The ESL teachers’ need of continuing professional development
in different teaching domains over the next two years from the
time of the survey and within their school context.
