Teaching Practice (TP) is an integral part of Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme (PGDE), Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Primary) Programme (PGDP), B.A. (Chinese Language Studies) & B.Ed. (Chinese Language Education) Co-terminal Double Degree Programme (CLED), B.A. (English Studies) & B.Ed. (English Language Education) Co-terminal Double Degree Programme (ELED), B.Ed. (Mathematics and Mathematics Education) Programme (BMED) and B.Ed. (Liberal Studies) Programme (LSED) , which provides opportunities for students to put theory into classroom practice. During the TP period, the Faculty’s TP supervisors will visit students in their practicum schools and support their professional development through formative and summative assessment, taking into consideration their teaching performance, as well as their professional behaviour and attitude.
The intended Learning Outcomes of TP are that students will:
(1) demonstrate a competence in the core teaching skills;
(2) integrate and apply pedagogical content knowledge in practices;
(3) apply concepts of reflective practice to real classroom situations; and
(4) develop appropriate attitudes and values of a qualified teacher.
In addition to providing students with various kinds of support and guidance during the Teaching Practice (TP) period, as well as strengthening the connection with all front-line educators in both primary and secondary schools, the Faculty has introduced a “Teaching Adviser Scheme".
Teaching Advisers (TAs) are experienced local school teachers. The appointment of TAs is usually nominated by participating schools or the Faculty’s teaching staff and then appointed by the Faculty.
With TAs’ support and guidance, students will be able to:
To ensure that all the appointed teachers understand the roles of TA, the Faculty will arrange a “Teaching Adviser Scheme Briefing" for all TAs before each TP period. Besides introducing the roles and responsibilities of TAs, the briefing also allows all appointed teachers to exchange information and share ideas with regard to the Scheme.
To ensure ease of access for students to retrieve the latest information and a wide range of resources related to Teaching Practice (TP), the Teaching Practice Office has adopted a new download system by using an e-Learning platform “Blackboard".
From now on, all materials related to TP and Pre-TP Experience activities, such as TP Handbooks, schedules of various TP and Pre-TP Experience activities, different kinds of forms, notes of briefing and review sessions, powerpoint presentations and videos of professional talks and more, will be uploaded to the “Blackboard" for download or online viewing.

Serving as an academic support unit for the Faculty of Education, the Teaching Practice Office provides coordination and support in every aspect of Teaching Practice, School Attachment, School Experience, School Visits, Immersion, and many other kinds of activities which prepare student teachers for practice in schools and professional development.
