Ho Sheung Kwan Steven (2021 Graduate)

I have participated in an one-year exchange program at the University of Aberdeen. It has been a great opportunity for me to embrace myself in a new environment, meet new friends, and adapt to new learning methods and also the very special culture of the granite city in Scotland. I have taken courses which I did not have the chance to take in CUHK, such as politics and philosophy. These are some subjects that have broadened my horizon in terms of different ways of thinking and the application of logic in fields other than mathematics and science. With a healthy learning and teaching environment and a lot of interactions between teachers and students, I have got along with my classmates very well, and I find them very passionate and enthusiastic in learning.

In the winter holiday, I got the chance to visit some countries in Eastern Europe, andtake a good rest while experiencing Western Christmas culture. I visited places with traditional cultures, such as Budapest, Vienna and Copenhagen. There were lots of historical buildings, and I met new friends who were travelling around the world. The world is so small, as I also met a lot of friends from Asia, who shared a lot of travelling experiences with me, while it is also so big, as I visited  lots of places that I have never imagined I could go before the exchange program. There are so many stories that I can listen to and learn from travelling all the way from the east to the west.

Despite of the chilly weather throughout winter and  the pandemic condition in 2020, the exchange program is definitely a fruitful one, and I think it’s irreplaceable throughout my university life. I will definitely miss the experience living in Aberdeen, and also the friends from all over the world.
