Teaching and Learning of Thinking Skills in Macau (Article written in Chinese)

Abstract

Background: This paper reports the promotion of the knowledge-based society through the implementation of teaching thinking skills in Macau during the last and first decade of the twentieth and twenty-first century.

Aims or focus of discussion: From the standpoint of the development of the educational policies in Macau, it is necessary and possible to identify and develop teaching thinking skills in the context of the educational reforms in Macau.

Arguments/comments/suggestions: The “Thinking Qualities Initiative” (TQI) project organized by the Education and Youth Bureau in Macau calls for the initiation and development of a series of workshops and training programs for administrators, teachers, students, and parents in order to improve their thinking skills and to acquire new learning styles and habits.

Conclusion: In examining the past and current implementations of teaching thinking skills in Macau and Hong Kong, there remains a need to design more formal, systematic and in-depth training opportunities for all parties concerned.
