Paul Shu-sing WONG

Abstract

The present paper looks at several aspects of the In-service Teacher Education Programs (INSTEP) in Physical Educating (PE) for early childhood educators in Hong Kong. After a brief description of the existing preschool training provisions in PE, some findings are presented on the offer of PE INSTEP nowadays. These indicate that apart from the inadequate PE training both in the initial and in-service teacher education programs, there are inadequate well-planned PE INSTEP organized by various institutions at different levels. Therefore, a PE INSTEP Innovation Model is developed to give recommendations on the existing PE INSTEP in Hong Kong.
