Preparing "Small" Environmentalists Through Activity-based and Interdisciplinary Environmental Teaching

Tammy KWAN

Abstract

Using the intentions and guiding principles or the Belgrade Charter and Tbilisi Declaration as framework of reference, an activity-based interdisciplinary approach is reinforced to teacher teaching environmental education. It is believed that such teaching approaches are more appropriately used to prepare all students to become "small" environmentalists in their own living environmental setting. Students learning from such an approach would benefit from developing into an all-round person to exercise their concerns, responsibility, commitment, love and care of the environment and hence can help to fulfill the intentions Of preserving the environment for future generations.
