Professional Development Needs of Middle-Managers in Primary Schools on Educational Change (Article written in Chinese)

Siu-Wai WU

Abstract

In the era of educational change, the performance and self-growth of middle-managers is critical for school development. The Hong Kong Primary Education Research Association conducted a survey on middle-managers of primary schools in 2005, and the results reflected that the respondents have negative feelings on educational reform in Hong Kong. They expected more professional development on team building and power to cope with changes in management. Local and international literature reviews also echo that exchanges and reflective exercises for middle-managers through in-service training are necessary. These activities are helpful for the professional development of middle-managers in enhancing their ability in team leadership and school development management during educational change.
