The New Annex of the University Sports Centre of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) has been officially launched and in operation. A new fitness room in the New Annex is established, which integrates scientific advances into sports training. This is the first time athletes using a campus gymnasium will have access to new measurement devices capable of providing real-time on-site assessment of their physiological and biomechanical indicators, enabling CUHK’s elite athletes to fine-tune their training strategies. Furthermore, the new facility is equipped with advanced sports equipment and a dedicated app, allowing athletes to set training goals and monitor their progress. This holistic approach not only optimises training efficiency and minimises the risk of sports injuries but also aims to identify and nurture promising local sporting talent.
While advancing the hardware, the Department of Sports Science and Physical Education and Physical Education Unit are also dedicating to enhance the software by providing comprehensive support services to student-athletes, including psychological counseling, learning support, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and many more, in an effort to help student-athletes balance the dual-track development of academic pursuits and sports,
